Kitesurf & Windsurf
The winds from the North-East blow almost every day of the year on the Atlantic coast of Morocco. The sites or "spots" of Essaouira are ideal for the experienced surfers, although there are zones where one can learn. The wind blows very early in the morning and at the end of the evening. It will be noted that the water of Essaouira, cooled by the strong winds, is not very hot. It is thus necessary to wear a coverall.


Excursions
Essaouira is a great site on the Atlantic coast and semi-way between Agadir, Marrakech, and Casablanca. This made of it a starting point towards many tourist centers of interest. Interesting sites near Essaouira:

• Diabat (5 km):
  Here you will find the XVIII century ruins which "were discovered" by the first hippies in Morocco.
  
• Bellevedere de Chicht (26 km):
  This site worths the visit, at least for the splendid remote sight which it offers of Essaouira.
  
• Road of Agadir (173 km):
  Splendid natural landscapes, wood, sights panoramic.
  
• The Morabito of Sidi Kaouki (27 km):
  This village is famous for its landscape and the ' moussem', the annual festival in August. There is a beautiful beach here.

Underwater fishing
In the water of Essaouira the most common fish is tuna. Its normal mode of fishing is with a cane but it can also be fished with the harpoon. The species which can be fished are the sargue, the wolf, the mule, and sea-breams.

Underwater fishing with harpoon close to the coasts or in open sea can function with tunas, the swordfish, the hake, the mérou, barracudas. The local tourist authorities facilitate the process for getting a licence for this kind of fishing in water of Essaouira.
